Cheat #1: Kill your first answer
Your brain's first suggestion is almost always the crowd's first suggestion. If you thought of "apple" for a fruit prompt, so did fifty thousand other players — that's Plankton (10 points). The 3-second rule: when you have an answer, pause and ask "what's the second thing?" The second or third thought is usually one tier rarer.
Cheat #2: Read every single condition
Krillion prompts are traps dressed as questions. "Name a country whose name ends in an 'ee' sound (like Italy)" has TWO conditions: it must be a country AND its name must end in that sound. Miss either one and your answer is rejected (0 points). Scan for conditional words — "whose", "that", "with", "contains", "starts with" — and verify your answer against each one before the clock runs out.
Cheat #3: Go specific, not clever
There's a difference between rare and weird. "Praying Hands banana" (a real cultivar) scores 100 points on a fruit prompt. "Banana phone" scores nothing — it was never in the pool. The winning zone is real but obscure: a defunct brand, a named variety, a technical term, a small country.
Cheat #4: Bank the wide pools first
Not all prompts are equal. A pool of 14,000 accepts almost anything — that's your safe scoring ground. A pool of 18 is a tightrope where one wrong step costs a whole prompt. Strategy: answer the wide pools with safe picks first to bank points, then spend your creative energy on the narrow ones where 100-point answers actually live.
Cheat #5: Use the autocomplete probe
The answer box suggests completions as you type, and those suggestions come from the official pool. Type a promising letter pair — "pr" on a P-fruit prompt — and the menu shows you confirmed pool members. The rarer-looking ones are exactly the layer that pays big.
Cheat #6: Study the 100-point answers
The best Krillion players aren't the smartest — they're the ones who've internalized what a 100-point answer looks like. Browse our rare answers record before each dive to calibrate your instincts. After a week, you'll start generating that flavor of answer automatically.
