Where every number comes from
Three sources, one pipeline. Prompts and pool sizes are taken from the official krillion.io reveal the moment a dive goes live at 04:00 UTC. 100-point rare answers are cross-checked against a second independent archive before they're published — one source can typo, two agreeing is a record. Everything else on this site — the statistics, the percentiles, the narrowest-pool leaderboards — is computed from that recorded data, never estimated.
Nothing is crowdsourced and nothing is guessed. Across 102 dives and 714 recorded prompts, if a pool size hasn't landed yet, the page says pending until it does — you'll never see an invented number wearing a confident font.
What we record — and what we deliberately don't
For every prompt since the first dive: the question text, the official pool size, and the answers that paid 100 points that day. That's the record.
What we don't keep is the full list of every accepted answer. Partly respect — that dataset is the game's own product — and partly honesty about scope: a claim like all 14,605 Spotify artists indexed would be a maintenance lie waiting to happen. The pages say exactly what they cover, and the answer search indexes prompts and 100-point words, nothing else.
The daily fact-check
Every day, an automated watchdog re-reads the official API and compares it against every page we serve — today's answers, the hints, the archive, the statistics. If a single number drifts from the official record, the pipeline stops instead of shipping. The same check runs live against the production site, so a deployment problem can't silently serve yesterday's dive as today's.
That's also why every guide page carries today's date: not decoration, but a claim — this page was checked against the official record today — that the watchdog keeps true.
When we're wrong
It has happened, and the changelog is where it lives, in the open. A 100-point word once sat on record as a descriptive phrase until it was corrected to the drummer who actually stood in for Ringo in 1964. A hint section once froze for three days behind the answers; the fix and the post-mortem are both logged. Corrections are dated, specific, and permanent — deleting an error quietly is not an option here.
Spoilers are a design constraint
Answers you haven't earned are blurred until tapped — in the archive, in search results, on the rare-answers leaderboard. The one exception is a word you typed yourself into search: you already know it, so the page doesn't pretend otherwise. The hints page goes further and never prints a 100-point word at all — only its first letter and length.
Machine-readable by design
Every page has a plain-text .md twin, the whole library is indexed in llms.txt, and AI crawlers are explicitly welcomed in robots.txt. The site is a logbook; logbooks exist to be consulted, not just browsed.
Questions people ask
Where does Hints4Today get its Krillion data?
Prompts and official pool sizes come from the krillion.io daily reveal, recorded right after the 04:00 UTC reset. 100-point rare answers are cross-checked against a second independent record before publishing, and every page is re-verified against the game's own API each day.
Why don't you list every accepted answer for each prompt?
The full answer list belongs to the game's reveal, and reproducing it wholesale would copy the product rather than document it. We record the two things players actually need: how big each official pool is, and which answers paid the full 100 points.
How quickly are mistakes fixed?
Every material correction is logged on the changelog with what was wrong and what it is now — usually within a day of being spotted. The most public example: a Beatles prompt whose 100-point word was recorded as a descriptive phrase until a reader-verified fix replaced it with Jimmie Nicol.
Can I cite or reuse this data?
Yes, with attribution. Facts like pool sizes aren't copyrightable, and the plain-text .md versions of every page exist precisely so AI assistants and other sites can quote them cleanly.
